Frank Squire using John Deere tractor to cut hay in Hopkinton

Frank Squire, a 4th generation farmer, cutting hay on the same farm his great grandfather, Aschbel Squire, cleared in 1803. This job used to be done with a scythe. In this picture he’s using a John Deere # 5 sidebar mower and John Deere tractor. Squire Farm is one mile west of Hopkinton on Hopkinton-Potsdam State road. July 1950. Hopkinton, NY.
