Generator being moved with an eight-horse team in Oswegatchie
Caption by SLCHA Archive: This picture shows one of two generators being hauled from the station at Oswegatchie to the first power house at Brown’s Falls. The road was either sand or mud. The generator was inched along by eight strong horses, and the trip took about three days. Teamsters walk alongside the horses to direct and encourage them; other workers at the rear of the wagon holding the generators hold guy lines to keep the machinery on the wagon.1912. Oswegatchie, NY.
