Inside the A&B Powerhouse of the Republic Steel Corporation in Mineville
Interior of the A&B Powerhouse of the Republic Steel Mine Corporation. Water is flowing through turbines at 2,500 cubic feet per second. Generator is run by a synchronous motor. The water moves the turbine shaft which moves a belt attached to the dynamo (a coil of wires inside a ring of magnets in the generator unit) which creates electricity. The electricity goes through wires from the generator units, then to transformers that step up the voltage, and then into the transmission lines. Circa 1907. Mineville, NY.
