Lowering a logging boat into the Black River in Carthage
A winch is used to lower a boat onto the Black River. The winch is on the railroad car which delivered the boat. The train stopped on the bridge in order to unload the boat. The boat was used to help corral wood being floated down the river to mills. Circa 1930. From the Bill Blunden Collection in the Town of Champion Archives.
