Train wreck at Deer River in Lewis County
Train wreck at Deer River involved Train 5B which struck a horse, the horse rolled under and tipped the engine. In cab is M.J. O’Keefe, Engineer, in gangway is Van Brockland, Fireman, sitting on front of engine are Stinehope, Sam Schautz and Louie Phelps, Conductor. The engine is #1771 of the NY Central & H Railroad. 1904. Lewis County in NYS.
