Gerald Heath was the caretaker of Singer Castle on Dark Island for a decade from the 1950s to the early 1960s. That meant that he lived on the island year-round, staying in the castle’s help’s quarters. His family spent much of their free time there, and his children often helped with some of his tasks, such as lawn care.
